Optional AI and privacy choices
Research with AI is available from the Mac app and is optional. Choose and configure a provider there; requests happen only when you start an AI task. The provider you choose determines how that request is handled.
Choose and configure a provider on Mac
In the Mac app, open Settings → AI to choose an available on-device Apple Intelligence option, a local Ollama setup, or a configured cloud provider. Fuentas does not supply cloud API access or pay provider charges for you. Store provider keys in the app’s credential settings.
Review what a task may use
Before a cloud task, Fuentas requests permission to send the selected research text, notes, and your question or context off device. Review what you selected and the provider’s terms before allowing the request. On-device and local providers follow different data paths.
Check generated work against sources
AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Verify claims, quotations, page references, and interpretations against the original source before you rely on them. Do not treat a generated summary as a replacement for reading the paper.
