Workflow 08 · Fuentas guide
Sync, back up, and restore
Sync helps a library reach your other devices; a backup gives you a separate copy to recover from. They solve different problems, so use both when the work matters.
Connect optional iCloud sync
Open Settings → Sync to inspect the account and environment. Choose Connect, or Retry if a previous connection needs attention. iCloud sync is optional; local libraries remain available without it.
Check metadata and each attachment
Fuentas reports metadata and attachment transfer separately. A reference can be visible while its PDF is still transferring. Use Keep Downloaded when you want a local copy available offline on that device. Do not assume that a visible reference means every attachment is ready.
Create a separate backup
Choose Back Up Now and select a destination for a separate copy. Backup files are readable and are not newly password-encrypted by Fuentas. Consider keeping a second copy outside the same device or account failure domain.
Restore without replacing the original
Restore creates a separate local library and preserves the original. Open the restored copy and check references and files before relying on it. Keep the original until you are satisfied with the recovery.
